The Larrapinta Trail in the Northern Territory is one of the most spectacular adventures for hikers. The 223 kilometre long route passes through the McDonnell Range and offers spectacular views of the Australian Outback. Start in the town of Alice Springs and make your way to the summit of Mount Saundera, where sunrise offers a panorama that is breathtaking.
Along the way you'll come across ancient gorges, crystal clear bodies of water such as Simpsons Gap and Ellery Creek Big Hole where you can refresh yourself after a long trek. Don't forget to check out Ormiston Gorge Campground for an overnight stay under the stars and a wild outback experience. For the convenience of travellers, guided tours are available to explain the local Aboriginal history and the unique flora and fauna of the region.
